Early Years Foundation Stage

Please find information in relation to Nursery:

Admission to Nursery

If you would like your child to attend Thorntree Primary School Nursery you will need to complete a Nursery Application Form. These can be obtained from the school office and returned there when completed. Your child’s name will then be added to the nursery admission list.

Wherever possible, places are allocated to children immediately after their third birthday. A member of the Nursery team will make contact with you to let you know when a place becomes available for your child and whether it is for a morning or afternoon nursery session. If at the time of your application Nursery is full then we will allocate your child a place as soon as one becomes available. This will be on a priority basis linked to your child’s age, i.e. oldest children first.

Children start full-time school in the school year in which they are five; the first year of school is called Reception. The Local Authority will write to you enclosing an application form which you must fill-in and return to them indicating your chosen school. Forms must be returned between November and January, during the school year in which your child is four.

Please be aware that a place in Nursery does not automatically guarantee a place for your child in school.
